What does the White dots on a finger nail mean?

I think its a calcium deficiency or somethingWhat does the White dots on a finger nail mean?
Silly...it's a nail bruise. What does the White dots on a finger nail mean?
I thought it was too much calcium
The white dots come about as a result of damage to the fingernail as it grows. Basically, if you hit your finger on something it can cause a deformity (often called an ';air bubble';) in the fingernail. What it really represents is an area where the material that makes up the fingernail (called keratin) is not put together quite right (we say it is incompletely keratinized). This deformity stays in the nail until it grows out and gets cut off.

When you hit your finger on something, you can damage the part of your fingernail that is alive and growing. This doesn鈥檛 cause any permanent problems, but causes this white spot in your nail. The more you bump or hit your fingernail, the more white spots you will get. But whether you have one or many, they stay in your nail until it grows out.
It means you are going to strike it rich-not kidding-its TRUE!!
go to your doctor
My manicurist says it can be 2 things. One is where you've had trama to the nail(you bang your finger hard on something) or its a mineral deficiency during that time of nail growth. However, a manicurist can buff them out with one of those high speed buffers
It can be from calcium deficiency, but usually it can be caused by something as simple as a cold or fever. Any trauma to your hands or body can cause this discoloration. Many will be in about the same spot on multiple nails.
Yes you're right. It is a calcium deficiency. I asked a nail tech.
Yes, you're right, it's calcium deficiency.
they tell you how many secret admirers you have
older people say that it means your wise but I don't know
Usually it's from slight damage to the ';nail bed';, the area of the finger right above where the fingernail comes out.

It's nothing to be concerned about.

Did Egyptians wear finger nail polish?

I have seen movies where the actors had on nail polish. And that seems like it would be fake. If so, did men and women both wear it?Did Egyptians wear finger nail polish?
Yes they colored thier nails

No they didn't have nail polish like in the movies

Unlike many other cosmetics that have a history of hundreds or even thousands of years, nail polish (or lacquer, or enamel) is almost completely an invention of twentieth century technology. Nail coverings were not unknown in ancient times鈥攖he upper classes of ancient Egypt probably used henna to dye both hair and fingernails鈥攂ut essentially, its composition, manufacture and handling reflect developments in modern chemical technology.

www.madehow.com/Volume-1/Nail-Polish.h鈥?

There are historic records of nail colouring in ancient societies of China and Egypt, where colour signified social class. In China, it is done by mashing together the petals of impatiens flower and alum. Applying this mixture to nails for a few hours or overnight leaves a color ranging from pink to red.

Originally made of natural pigments, modern nail polish is similar to car paint, and requires a polish remover such as acetone to remove. Modern nail polish was invented by Michelle M茅nard in the early 1920s.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nail_polishDid Egyptians wear finger nail polish?
No,nail polish does not exist during those days.I mean do scientist really exist during those days to make nail polish?Do woman has beauty cosmetics to put on during those days? All i know is one thing that really exist, that is eyeliner..
Well it looks like nail polish but truly it's just liquid copper and gold that was brushed on ussually quite unevenly and clumpy. Because the gold was extremely hot it would burn the finger tips of the wearer. Therefore only the rich wore it. The gold showed the riches wealth and burned their finger tips proving they were unable to do any physical labor.
Sure they did, Do you think Cleopatra would be caught dead without anything on her nails%26gt;
yes, both sexes painted their nails in ancient Egypt..

They used various minerals and other items to make a ';paint'; substance..
I'm not totally positive, but if i think, Egyptians of high standings did. Pharaohs and other political or religious leaders probably did. But, i obviously would not have been the same substance we use today. It was probably some kind of dye the used for clothes.

Does it mean anything if you paint your ring finger-nail on your left hand black?

I have seen it on this one celebrity guy and i thought of doing it before i saw him and i was just wondering if it meant anything. because i dont want to paint it if it means any thing bad.Does it mean anything if you paint your ring finger-nail on your left hand black?
it means hes gayDoes it mean anything if you paint your ring finger-nail on your left hand black?
I don't think it means anything

I have the nails on my left hand painted black and not my right

Everyone thinks I'm trying to make a statement

Honestly, the first time I did it, I was waiting for the paint to dry on my left hand before painting my right and I was just like, I really don't feel like painting the other hand and I just didn't. And it's hard to paint your right hand when you're right handed anyway.
Why would anyone do that? Black nail polish looks the best if it's on all your fingernails.
i've never even heard of doing that!!
i'm pretty sure it's just a style thing..

theres tons of just plain black rings on the left hand ring finger out there that mean absolutely nothing.
It means, ';imitate me';.

How to make a sticker stay on my finger nail?

well i put a sticker on my fingernail and i put a clear coat over it but it wont stay

how do i make it stay? How to make a sticker stay on my finger nail?
You can't. Stickers basically suck. The edges curl up after a top coat is applied. If a top coat is not applied they disappear in a day anyway. Decals are much better, but need some experience to apply, and they seem to be fading from use because of poor instructions. I have great stuff, but i fear I will die of cancer before I can share it with anyoneHow to make a sticker stay on my finger nail?
I've had this same problem, and what I've learned is, never buy stickers MEANT for fingernails. Though it's a lot more expensive, buy phone jewls, and stickers and see how they work. They stay on much longer (which is about a day or two - but is actually very long for stickers one your nails :p) because they are made to deal with the outside of a phone, which is pretty hard. Also coat it with clear polish, to make it last longer.

Anyways, hope I helped!
do you have polish under the sticker? if not, try painting your nail with clear, put the sticker on it while your nail is still a little wet from the clear polish, then put a top coat over it

sometimes if that doesn't work then the sticker it's just not a real good. one, but it should work

try painting your nail clear. then a clear ontop of it?

:D

  • What does it mean if you have very white nails on fingers and toes?

Instead of the usual slight pinkish tinge they usually are? Mine are very white and also I have no half moons on my finger nails? Does it mean anything? I am not worried, just interested to know. It may mean nothing. Thanks very much. What does it mean if you have very white nails on fingers and toes?
too little calciumWhat does it mean if you have very white nails on fingers and toes?
not enough zinc in your daily intake. try taking a multivitamin or a zinc supplement.
the white on the nails means you aren't getting enough oxygen...as for the little moons, i'm not sure.

Why do people have finger/toe nails?

thanksWhy do people have finger/toe nails?
Nails have evolved to protect the sensitive nerve-filled touch pads on the bottoms of our fingers and toes to allow us to handle things with greater dexterity.

Why do people have finger/toe nails?
Evolutionary artifact. They used to be claws in our predecessors - tools and weapons.
To protect the skin cuz it would be weird if we didn't have them; it's just something we should have. And to paint them! Lol
Because it would look weird if we didnt.

I acidently swallowed a finger nail and I can feel something in my throat whenever i cough.?

How do I get the nail outfrom there without going to the doctorI acidently swallowed a finger nail and I can feel something in my throat whenever i cough.?
If you swallowed it, it won't have gone down your windpipe. Maybe it's just your mind playing tricks. Oh and stop biting your nails, it's gross and they are dirty so you're asking for a stomach bug.I acidently swallowed a finger nail and I can feel something in my throat whenever i cough.?
Is it the entire nail? I mean, was it one of those acrylic or gel nails that you swallowed?

Or is it the top of a finger nail that you swallowed?

You can try eating bread to see if that will push it downwards into your gullet but if it does not, you will have to see a doctor.

My father had to have a fishbone removed under anaesthesia from his throat.
OMG that happened to me - is it stuck like around tha back of your tongue, like popcorn bits can do sometimes?

What i found is that it will work its way out itself, just keep drinking liquids, and possibly eat a bit of bread to help possibly push it down,

OR that it is infact tonsilitus/ inflamed tonsils/ sore throat [happened to me lol]

if it persists about 2 days later, then im afraid you should go to the doctor
It's possible that it only scratched you on the way down, and it's a slight inflamation that's irritating you. My Mum used to make me eat dry bread if I ever had anything stuck in my throat, to help it move along, you could try that...

    Good luck xx
Try opening your throat, like you are yawning. Then swallow lightly . Sometimes this moves the object stuck in your throat.

It may be a scratch in your throat that is painful. If it does not go away by the time you wake up tomorrow, see the doctor.
get some bread, not too much and swallow, it will push the object down, its probably that's there is nothing there but what has happened its scratched the lining of your throat, making it feel like something is stuck there.
If you swallowed it then you'll digest it. I think that you'll be fine and the something in your throat may dissappear with drinking (water).

If it does persist go and see your doctor.
Try eating toast or dry bread to see if you can shift it. You might just have to go to your GP if it does not budge!
eat some crackers or potatoe chips i,e, roughage and drink lots of water. if it persists then go to the doctors.

What are good ways to stop biting your nails, and fingers?

I seriously need to stop this bad habit! I bite the skin on my finger tips, and it looks terrible! I also have a problem with nail biting. Any ways I can stop myself from doing this? I know painting my nails helps. What are good ways to stop biting your nails, and fingers?
Typically, nail polish does the trick.

Good luck! What are good ways to stop biting your nails, and fingers?
try putting on some strong smelling nail varnish that will taste awful

not sure how to get rid of the finger habit though... maybe put on some hand cream that'll taste nasty?
pick your butt and then you will not want to bite your nails

In the bathroom at home with the door closed. That's the same place you should blow your nose, as well.Where Is The Best Place To Clip Finger And Toe Nails?
Standing over an unattended plate of food belonging to someone who you dislike very much. Church or a library is funny because it's dead quiet and then all of a sudden everyone starts hearing clipping noises and turns around trying to find the rude person. Do it in someone's bed who you want to play a prank on, they'll get poked and scratched up and spend the rest of the night picking through the sheets gathering up finger and toenails that aren't theirs, hilarious!
On the subway after a bad day at work...that way you are not the only one irritated and disgusted.
On your fingers and toes, silly!!! ;-)

Seriously - in the bathroom, where it's easy to sweep up the clippings so you don't leave a mess.
    Bathroom
    Not in bed....
Over the kitchen sink or the toilet.
    in your bathroom at home.
    At McDonalds.
In the bathroom where you do the rest of your personal grooming.
I sit in my bathtub %26amp; then rinse it out well

I go out on the back doorsteps
on a train, surrounded by well-wishers and fellow comuters.
In your bathroom over a wastebasket. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, try doing it in the lobby of a prestigious hotel or during dinner at a fancy uptown restaurant and see what kind of reaction you get.
    from your fingers and toes?
    At home, in the restroom.
At the very tip of the toes and fingers. If you do it anywhere else, you could get blood all over
At home outdoors. Always barf outside too. Barfing where you crap is gross.
    On a first date.
I usually sit wherever I'm comfortable at, in good light, and clip over a towel so I can discard them when I'm done.

Or I just gnaw them off. Both work.
In the bathroom over the sink or toilet or over a towel so they don't go flying all over the place.

How can I stop chewing on my nails and fingers?

I already tried using the nasty tasting stuff and it doesn't work. I also tried leaving a rubber around oround my wrist and popping myself with it. Will my fingers eventually become deformed? How can I stop chewing on my nails and fingers?
Relax. You do it because you are nervous. Find out what is making you so nervous and maybe you can then correct the problem. How can I stop chewing on my nails and fingers?
I would recommend - putting hot pepper into clear nail polish so each time you start to bite your nails, not only will it taste nasty, but also HOT!! and hopefully will deture you from chewing! Good Luck! (It doesn't matter if colored polish of course unless your a guy)
Get a manicure, even if they are short from biting. Once you see how good they can look, that will deter you and you'll begin to enjoy long nails. It's just a habit, so caring how you and your nails look will do the trick.
Most everyone has some little trick; here's one that worked for me. When I decided it was time to stop, I carried a nail clipper around with me at all times, and everytime I had the urge to chew, I instead took out my clipper and did a little trimming. After a while, the desire just sort of went away. That was 40 years ago, and I still don't bite my nails.

Good luck -- this is a fairly benign, but nasty little habit, and I wish you a quick ';cure';!
    Put tape on your fingernails...
i do it too, its horrible - i did stop once with a very simple trick, you stop biting one finger at a time, then the next week stop another till you have just one left - you can either stop that one too, or keep it as a binky lol, i started again recently though due to stress, but this is the method i will use to stop again
Fingernails are on there to protect the sensitive ends of the fingers.

If you eventually stop biting your nails, any ';deformity'; should take care of itself.

There is some risk for infection if you chew your nails, human mouths being pretty buggy (like, bacteria), generally.

The best thing I have found to curb nail biting in myself is to have my nails done, or, if I don't have to have my hands scrupulously clean (like for work--I am a nurse), having artificial nails applied.

Distracting yourself is another good way to curb the biting. Notice when you bite them the most--driving, watching TV, boredom in any setting, nervousness? And then address the circumstances under which you chew your nails..... You may find that's half the battle.

I do not encourage the rubber band on the wrist routine: you can hurt the vessels that lie right under the skin if you hit them just right.

  • Is it true that I can remove a tick from my dog with finger nail polish remover?

Many methods have been tried to remove ticks, many of which are not recommended. Applying a recently extinguished match or even a still lit match to the body of the tick will NOT cause the tick to back out and fall off. The mouthparts only let go when the tick has completed the meal. Also, applying fingernail polish will suffocate the tick but will not cause the tick to fall off.

The best recommendation to remove a tick is to use a tweezers or commercially available tick removal device and pull the tick off. Do not touch the tick since diseases can be transmitted. Consider wearing gloves when removing a tick.

With a tweezers or tick removal device, grab the tick as close to the head as possible. With steady, gentle pressure, pull the tick out of the skin. Frequently, pieces of skin may come off with the tick.

If the head of the tick remains in the skin, try to grab it and remove as much as possible. If you are unable to remove the entire head, don't fret. This is not life threatening. Your pet's immune system will try to dislodge the head by creating a site of infection or even a small abscess.

Usually no additional therapy is needed, but if you are concerned, contact your family veterinarian. There are surgical instruments that can be used to remove the remaining part of the tick.

Do you hate when people say finger nail polish?

i don't know about you but its annoying i rather people just say nail polish

you?Do you hate when people say finger nail polish?
I say nail polish but I don't get twisted if someone says finger nail polish.Do you hate when people say finger nail polish?
They obviously have more breath to spare, and those who just say ';nail polish'; obviously have more time to spare, contemplating that they should leave out a word.
    ehh. i guess.

thats like my friend said: are you covered in temporary tattoos?

its like why wouldnt he say fake tattoos or just like tattoos.

    but hes a wierdo.

    its almost the same thing.
No, if people say nail polish it could be for fingers or toes. If they say 'finger nail polish' you know its for your fingers
I never really thought about it. Seems kind of silly to worry about something so trivial.
    Finger nail polish.
I can respect people that are different than me. I don't spend that much time on it, who has time for that?!?
I just say nail polish, but it doesn't bother me really..
    nail polish
    The word police has spoken
It doesn't matter. It's just the way they say it. Get over it.
    Lol!!!
Yeah, it's so old sounding. It's for toes too so.... yeah.
    No.. I say it.
i've never thought about it, but from now on it will bother me.

Why does my pet mouse bites my fingers and nails?

when i try to play with my mouse, she kept on biting my fingers and nails(but not to hard, as in nibbling or something). as i thought she was hungry, i give her some food with my fingers into her cage but she pushes away the food and bites my finger/nails again? Why does my pet mouse bites my fingers and nails?
If your mouse is just a baby, it's probably just growing teeth. My pet does that a lot, too. You can buy some chewing toys for your pet at pet stores like Pet Smart or Pet co so your pet would bite on those instead of your fingers or nails. Why does my pet mouse bites my fingers and nails?
it depends how long you've had her if she is new she is just slightly frightened and getting to know you, pick her up for a while and stroke for a bit things will ';clear up'; if you've had her for a while she is probably sick and really scared of people or she wants to have babies so get a male, it happened to my hamster but if she does have babies separate the male from them because he will eat them
She could be acting in self-defense. It could also be that your hands smell like food so she bit them. After you eat try washing your hands and then she might not bite you. If that doesn't work it means she is acting in self-defense. Once she gets used to you she won't bite.
She is not trying to hurt or scare you, she is probably just in her ''put everything in your mouth'' stage. All of mine have done it, as long as it does not draw blood your fine
he/she is probably uncomfortable maybe its the way you hold it. or maybe it feels sick and doesnt like being held. sometimes it could just be in a bad mood, i suggest if it keeps going on for a few days ask a vet or a friend
That is how they tell what something is. maybe it smells something on your hands (food). Try getting her some treats that have essential vitamins and minerals. Whatever the case, she isn't trying to hurt you.

How do you stop biting your nails and fingers?

Well, this may sound gross but i need help. I have bitten my nails forever and i want to stop, but i cant. I don't just bite my nails i tear at the skin around my nails. My mom says its stress but she doesn't know where from, i don't either. How do i stop?

Plz no answers about how gross it is.How do you stop biting your nails and fingers?
    Well, I used to ALWAYS bite my nails. There is this nail polish that my mother made me wear, its clear and you can get it at a pharmacy. I used the one called Control it, and it makes your nails nard and so sour its just disgusting to bite them. Another product my friend used was ';Nibble no more';

You could also just always paint them and keep them perfect that way, sometimes that helps :)How do you stop biting your nails and fingers?
This was a hard habit for me to break, it took me three different tries to finally get this, i tried nail polish first, that didnt really work... so next i tried bandaids, they kept falling off... so i finally tried a stress ball and kept it with me at all times, and i would pull it out of my pocket every time i got bored, so eventually my stress almost went away and my friends noticed a difference in my attitude (in a good way) and i had better nails too...
ok we are alike in that department uhm I guess there is this nail polish stuff it goes on clear and when you bite your nails it leaves a sour taste in your mouth,I have no clue what it is called but you can get it at a Drug store like Rite Aid,Walgreens,I'm sure Wal-mart has it if you looked maybe even Dollar General or Family Dollar, that and protect 1 nail at a time like your pinky..if you wanna bite your nails do it on the one your NOT protecting
I used to bite my nails too.

My mom told me to just keep going one at a time. And that it takes about 30 days to break a bad habit. Maybe you can have someone follow you and when you are about to bite a nail... make them yell at you. About a month later, the habit was just gone. I couldn't bite them anymore. (And now i got braces so it would be really hard to bite them anyways.
I used to do that when I was 4. I stopped at around.. 10 i think. However, I peel my nails. I hate clipping them. It annoys me for some reason lol. Then afterwards, I file my nails and then it becomes nice and smooth. And how I stopped was easy. Will power. I knew it was kind of weird.. to bite my nails so I just stopped. Everytime I felt like biting my nails, I sat on my hands and watched TV.
Soak your fingertips in something you don't like. Like Vinegar or something it will leave a bad taste on your fingertips and you won't want to bite your nails anymore but make sure it's something you DON'T like

    hope i helped =)
i used to do that ALL the time. if u paint you nails u probably will stop because it chips at it and the chips will get into your mouth and it wouldnt taste so good. haha. try it out :) hope that helps!!! :D
ive stopped and here is my method: stop biting one nail at a time. and then 2 nails, then 3, and until you stop completely. u will see ur nails growing and it will motivate u even more. hope this helps
mix hot pepper with finger nail polish dab your finger and and nail with it. you will stop or burn your toung off.
well there is this clear nail polish at Walmart called

Does anyone else peel their finger or toe nails? Have you found a deterrent?

i found that putting a layer *or two or three* of that clear 60 second drying nail polish helps...i peel off the nail polish instead of the nail. it really helped me! good luck :)Does anyone else peel their finger or toe nails? Have you found a deterrent?
No, I do not do that, but in the stores, there are topical applicants that you place on top of your nail and is an easy to use peeler for nail polish or other nail products from your skin. They range from below $10 to around $25.

A few days after trimming my 13 months old nails I noticed that his finger is red and swollen?

You have ';cut it to the quick'; as my mother would have said.

It may be slightly infected. The salt water is probably ok, but I would put some antibiotic ointment on it (Neosporin or similar product) and maybe protect it with a band aid for a few days to allow it to heal and grow out a bit.A few days after trimming my 13 months old nails I noticed that his finger is red and swollen?
Could be a hang nail soak it in some warm soapy water to soften it up and eventually it will fix itself. Dont dig into it with clippers or anything just yet. Try and wait for it to heal with in a few days.A few days after trimming my 13 months old nails I noticed that his finger is red and swollen?
Contact your physician as soon as possible if your child fingers burn, itch, sting, or turn red after a manicure- all signs of possible infection or allergic reaction. And good luck.

  • How can you get finger nail polish off of hardwood floors without taking the clear coat off of the floor?

Hope it doesn't cover a large area.

Put ice on the polish and leave it for about 10 minutes. Use a plastic picnic knife and see if you can lift an edge of the paint. Sometimes you can peel it away. Any residual can be removed with superfine steel wool.

Your other option it to purchase some acetone free nail polish remover. Go into a corner of the floor, put some on a que tip and rub it on the floor finish. Let dry. Check to see if it affects the finish. If it does, cover the test spot with two coats of clear nail polish. If it doesn't--then you should be able to use it on the spill.

Or, call a professional. How can you get finger nail polish off of hardwood floors without taking the clear coat off of the floor?
You need to use a non-acetone nail polish remover.

that piece if skin cause when I pull it off it hurts and it bleedsWhat is under your finger nail? What are all the parts of your fingernail? What is underneath the fingernail?
Under your nail is skin called the matrix. It's very sensitive because it's always protected by your nail, so if your nail somehow comes off, it will likely bleed and hurt for a while. However, if you're talking about the lighter-coloured part of the skin under the nail (usually most visible under thumbnails), that's called a lunula and its appearance has to do with genetics. What is under your finger nail? How do you get finger nail polish out of a bath tub?

Nail polish remover or acetone should do it.How do you get finger nail polish out of a bath tub?
with fingernail polish removerHow do you get finger nail polish out of a bath tub?
The correct answer is...NON-acetone polish remover. You can also use NON-acetone remover on laminate floors to get rid of scuff marks. It won't ruin the shine on the floor or your tub.

Everyone has the right answer but are not giving a complete answer. If you were to use regular acetone and have the wrong type of tub, you could ruin it!

    Good luck!
have you tried nail polish remover?
Using a Q-tip soaked in nail polish remover and being very careful so you don't take off much of the enamel on the tub or take away much of the fiberglass.
Put nail polish remover(origional strong one) on a piece of cloth %26amp; just erase the nail polish with it.

If that dosn't work use a strong paint remover(VARSOL) by dabbing it on a cloth %26amp; just erase the nail polish.

Be carefull when doing this,{if U use the paint remover} so wear a mask or something to protect your face %26amp; also make sure you're eyes are protected.

pick up the bottle and carry it to another location! hee hee!

polish remover? i don't think it would mess up your tub!
Figner nail polish remover should do the trick. If it's very thick or stubborn, rub polish in with a scrubby pad.
This really isn't a smart-alek answer, but use fingernail polish remover on a Q-tip or a cotton ball. If it's a huge spill, then just go for a white washcloth. It really does work.

Why does people look down on black finger nail polish?

I had black nail polish on only one hand and my dad didn't like it. He called it ';worldly.'; It's not like I'm going to turn punk or goth or anything like that. I'm just a normal girl is all who just started wearing black nail polish. Anyone has an opinion??Why does people look down on black finger nail polish?
go look up the word black in the dictionary. there is such a negitive stigma attached to it, that there are always gonna be people who look down on it.

personally, i see nothing wrong with it. i realize there are people out there who wear it simply because it looks really good with some outfits. unfortunatly, you have always got the people who look only at the stereotypes of black.

parents however are always weird about kids fashion decisions. any time i come home with some new dress or pants or something, my mom always questions them because everything i wear is kinda dark and quite gothic. she has learned to deal with it better though because she knows im still a good person, doing volunteer work and what not, saying please and thank you and all that good stuff. the point im trying to make here is you know who you are, your parents should too. if you can wear the dark nail polish, but still act like the girl you always have been, then there should be nothing wrong with it.Why does people look down on black finger nail polish?
It's just the stigma attached to it.

Kinda like the swastika- it never always stood for the genocide of Jews, but that's how people will always see it [I think it means something like luck in some ancient culture.]

And I suppose a way you can show your dad otherwise is to wear cute, fashionable clothing, maybe even dresses and skirts, while wearing your black nail polish.

You could also show him that some celebrities are doing it and it's simply another fashion fad that won't last too long.

In fact, natural/nuetral colors are coming in as well as white.

And if your dad bugs you about it again, just tell him that it's just nail polish- you're a big girl, you can decide what color to paint your nails, no one's forcing him to wear black nail polish.
I know what you mean ;) I consider my style as ';classical'; and ';elegant'; (no jeans, sneakers or tracksuits ;), but I wear black nail polish and I have pierced my ears (4earrings in one ear, 10earrings in another; all of them are crystal studs, so it doesn't look punk or goth). So I think that nail polish is not bad, it depends on what you're wearing with it ;)

In my opinion, I think it rocks and looks amazing (if you're not goth or punk ;D ). Good luck :)
    kind of garish
Typically, black finger nail polish is associated with goth and punk. Why, I've never seen anyone else wear it. It may not be such a great idea to continue unless of course you are considering going goth.
I dont think that there is anything wrong with black nailpolish, i think it makes you stand out. Im not goth or punk either but i wear black nailpolish i think its kool lol. I think it is like any other nailpolish color i dont think it matters. Like what color skin you have or hair color it doesnt matter, its just a color. Its like saying people with black hair are goth/punk. And anyway tons of people wear black dresses suits tuxedos shoes hair accesories makeup etc. So whats so wrong with black nailpolish. Like I said before, its just a color.
i dont look down on it, but some ppl think-when they see it- that its like, a sign that ur goth or punk or something. and i dunno, usually parents dont like that
i'd rather have pink, or a french manicure.... i don't know. i don't look DOWN on it, I just don't like it on my fingers. :-)
Black nail polish has always had a bad rep, but just recently top fashion houses like Chanel have started to introduce it, so it might become more acceptable in the future...who knows maybe your dad will be asking to borrow yours one day!
dont worry about it the next time someone say something about it just say really? well, thanks for your opinion ill take that into consideration then they'll probaly give you a funny look but just walk away what can they do they cant force you to do any thing your a free person not some doll
ok i am the same way. i just started wearing black nail polish. I am not going punk or goth, i am the farest away from tht . I just think it looks good with other outfits. My sister calims im going ';skater'; but im not. my mom doesnt understand she think im going into this dark stage. But my dad doesnt mind. I kinda like it but other ppl might see it as werid or going ';punk';,';goth';, ';emo'; or ';skater'; or anything but if u like it be different then others and wear the black polish if u like it. It ur nails, u can paint them how ever u want
My mum actually won't let me wear black nail polish. I can wear pink, red, clear, blue for all she cares, but not black.

I guess people think it looks a little tacky. I personally think that on short fingernails it looks a little tacky, but on long fingernails it's great. Perhaps people think it's too punk or goth, or maybe the colour black is just to harsh for them.

Just make sure you don't wear it all the time, and you should be right.

What's the best thing to do for a smashed finger nail.?

Yesterday at work I smashed my finger and now my nail is turning black, should I cut a hole in the nail to let the blood drain or should I just leave it aloneWhat's the best thing to do for a smashed finger nail.?
Yes poke a hole in it! Trust me, I smashed my finger in a car door and the same thing happened to me. What you need to do it get a niddle, like a sewing needle, and put it over fire, a candle and let it get hot. Then take the tip and poke your finger nail a couple of times. Make sure you do it good enough to drain the blood. It doesnt hurt one bit and it will relieve so much pressure and make it stop throbbing. I promise this is the best thing to do.

Edit: Dont listen to these other people! I didnt know that I should poke it with a needle until I talked to someone about it who was a nurse. There is no need to go the hospital. When I did it it relieved it instantly when before it was so painful because of the pressure of the blood in my fingure. When you poke it, it drains that blood, thus taking away the pressure and pain. Trust me.What's the best thing to do for a smashed finger nail.?
mate o mine has ingrowing toenail. goes to the clinic every so often and they pull it all out with pliers.and a new one grows. i dunno about your fingernail though as im not a doc. pop down your clinic and see the nurse, or just leave it and let a new one grow
I say leave it alone I smached mine in a car door a few years back and I just had to leave it although it takes a while to heal.
    go to hospital. minor injuries.

you need to get it checked out. my be infected by the sounds of it
Defiantly leave it alone. Its exactly like a bruise anywhere else just underneath a nail. It'll take alot longer to heal too.
Get it checked it sounds like an infection.
did you realy smash your fingure or is this another one of those metopher wording things...

if you did ouch i have done that and it sure does hurt i hope you feel better
you poor thing, bet that hurt. Take some ice and put in a bowl and add cold water. Than put your finger in there and try and let it soak for a while. You can take it out if its too cold but than keep putting it back in as long as you can stand it. Than It will numb the pain and make it stop hurting so much. My Nail lady told me about this.
I have not done that in years it hurts way to much. Draining the blood is only necessary if there is swelling and discomfort. If there is you can do it your self or see a doctor. Other wise read and apply http://www.helium.com/tm/148271 to speed up the healing process.
    See a doctor!

  • What's the average rate of finger nail growth?

Measuring in inches or millimeters of finger nail per day or month. What's the average rate of finger nail growth?
The horny epidermal derivative covering the dorsal aspect of the terminal phalanx of each finger and toe.

The replacement of sharp claws with flattened nails in primates is considered part of the evolutionary development of a hand able to grasp objects. The nails start to develop in the fetus by the end of the third month, and are formed from the same epidermal tissue as the skin. They reach the ends of the fingers and toes about a month before birth.

The mature nail is a plate of the protein keratin which is also present in hair and skin. The pale 鈥榟alf-moon鈥?at the base 鈥?often exposed above the nail-fold only on the thumbs and big toes 鈥?marks the area of the bed of the nail where its substance is formed and from which it grows 鈥?the germinal matrix. The rest of the nail bed provides a surface for the growing nail to slide over as it advances at the rate of about 0.1 mm/day. The germinal cells continually divide to replace those which generate, and disappear into the non-cellular substance of the nail. This proliferation can be interrupted by injuries or acute illnesses, leaving grooves across the nails which gradually grow out.

ingernails grow faster than toenails. The fingernails on the right hand of a righthanded person grow faster than those on their left hand, and vice versa.

The average growth rate for nails is 0.1 mm each day (or 1 centimeter in 100 days). The exact rate of nail growth depends on numerous factors including the age and sex of the individual and the time of year. Fingernails generally grow faster in young people, in males, and in the summer.

  • Is black finger nail polish okay for an eleven year old to be wearing.?

She is in 6th grade and eleven years old, should she be wearing black finger nail polish!!!Is black finger nail polish okay for an eleven year old to be wearing.?
Of course. Nail polish isn't harmful, unless it's being sniffed. Is black finger nail polish okay for an eleven year old to be wearing.?
I would say no. Sorry to the 11 yr old :o( but she has all the time in the world to express herself with black -- while a kid, where's the colors at? Perhaps you can negotiate and meet in the middle with a dark purple or middle purple or one nail half black, half pink - something like that maybe -- glittery polish over or something.

Black suggests dark things - gothic a lot of times and most 11 year olds are not gothic - maybe just feels like it is cool or saw someone else has it on - One way would be no don't wear it and risk her always wearing it to defy you ( your daughter I am not sure??) and the other is let her try out her own self expression now and come to her own conclusions. Letting her express herself is one thing but strangers see little kids wearing things that make them look older - dark polish, makeup -- whatever it may be. So, even if you want to let her express herself, she has to understand doing that in some ways sometimes is actually dangerous.

Colors as a kid - happy, bright! :o)
Question: Is it ok to have an 11 year old wear black nail polish?

Answer: Do you allow the child to wear nail polish at all?

If the answer is ';yes'; then the colour hardly matters at all. Why would it be different from lime green, or bright purple?

It's neither right nor wrong to allow a child to wear nail polish, it's just a thing. Therefore, the colour is immaterial as well.

So it's up to you. :)

If it's not something YOU want her to wear, then your answer is ';no';.

If you dont mind, then the answer is ';yes';.
    It's NAIL POLISH.

I've yet to hear anything bad about anyone of any age wearing nail polish.

edit: for whoever said that black nail polish denotes dark, bad things...

Yeah, if she does apparently go ';goth';, it will only be a phase.

My twin went through the goth stage at some point. :P She's not really goth anymore, just more alternative.
Its prefectly fine. I wore it once but mine had cute pink/white hearts. (Im in 6th grd now) you should be lucky its not permanent like a tattoo. Its just nail polish, its not a nose piercing. don't freak out. it will come off and she'll probably get a different color.
it is a style now a days. it's alright. not letting her wear it will probably just make her mad and want to wear it more. besides, it's not like a piercing or a tattoo. it will come off with a cotton ball and some nail polish remover.
um i think that is fine but just make sure it is tasefully worn like with dark purples and maroons...indigo and navy......i think that is fine for her age.......and now that summer has come and gone its a perfect color for winter/fall:)
not really, she might start to turn goth at young age. and she'll be made fun of in school by others. this is of course what i think. lol. it might not happen
I say yes. As long as the rest of her look is age appropiatte. Like No really short skirts or to much upper body showing. If its black nails and jeans tee and tennis then sure of course!!
    JULiANNA SAYS (:

    - well duh ! haha its just nail polish . not like your sniffing it riight ? so no harm done . its OK to wear black nailpolish cause i do it all the time -
Ya, seriously what's wrong with black nail polish ? Its just nail polish thats black. You shouldn't get paranoid about such simple things.
    ya it is fun

if you dont like totaly black get those nail decorater pens and let her decorate the plain black nail with a smiley face or polka dot or something
As opposed to any other color of nail polish?
I was wearing black lipstick at eleven.
she definatly can I see people in lower grades wearing that on thiers. And plus ist the new style!!!!!
freaking 4 yr olds wear black/red nail polish... everything is ok to do these days..
I dont like it at all . Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear I think it very ugly.
    ofcourse.
Of course whats wrong with that? Overprotective, smallminded and sick much?
    its just nail polish.
    wear whatever you want

now, it's more stylish than edgy or goth or whatever
Depends is she a high-class hooker or just a street corner whore?
yeah i think it is perfectly fine .
    Yeahhh i think thats okayyy=)
    yess
yah sure all the cool girls are doing it
yes, nothing wrong with that in my opinion

I am going to a High school party and I look totally cute, but I need to know what color finger nail polish.?

I am wearing plaid short shorts that are pink orange red and white, but it is mostly orange. My shirt is red. Should I wear red, pink, or orange, fingernail polish. Please help my crush is going to be there!I am going to a High school party and I look totally cute, but I need to know what color finger nail polish.?
totally go pink. you want to bring out the little colors in the outfit. a total head turner. land that man. lol. jkI am going to a High school party and I look totally cute, but I need to know what color finger nail polish.?
I think that you should do all three colors :)

    you could:

paint each nail a different color

do each nail half one color and half the other

do a french manicure but instead of white on the tips you could put a color

Be Creative and Have Fun at the party :)
Stop stressing; Take a second, and chill. The last thing your crush will notice is your fingernails. Of course, unless they're painted a bright neon color. I suggest that you just wear clear nail polish.
Pink would be better because orange is just a little to bright(MY FAVE COLOR IS ORANGE THOUGH!) and red is kind of for old ladies. If you an old lady wearing nail polish it is going to be red.
    i would say pink :)

cause u already have red in ur shirt and pants and a lot of orange. so the pink nail polish would tie in with the pink in the shorts.

    hope this helps!
ok do red, pink, orange, red, pink, (repeat) Good luck! :)
I would recomend orange. I now what your going through and can see why your worried. That way you will be totally cute and match all at the same time!!!
    Stop worrying so much.

I bet he and nobody else will notice that your nail polish matches your shirt/shorts or whatever.
Pink would go awesome! You dont want too much orange.
hot pink it say spontaineous and fun
red or a white french manicure (only attempt if you know how to do it)
    pink
    a deep red

How do you get rid of an ingrown finger nail?

    you can cut it yourself

but if the nail is seriously ingrown then you have to go to the doctor to remove your nail, it grows back in a year.

How do you get rid of an ingrown finger nail?
Which nails are most commonly affected?

The great toes are the most commonly affected sites. Other toenails may less commonly become ingrown. Fingernails may rarely become affected.

What causes infections in ingrown toenails?

Bacteria and fungi can easily infect the skin of the feet and nails. The foot's warm and moist environment is a great breeding ground for many kinds of infections including Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, Candida, and Trichophyton. It is important to treat any secondary infections resulting from or following ingrown toenails.

What are possible complications of ingrown toenails?

Ingrown toenails may cause deeper bacterial tissue infection (cellulitis), localized infection of the nail fold (paronychia), and scarring of the nail fold and skin.

How do I treat an ingrown toenail at home?

Use warm soaks for 10 minutes two to three times a day during the flare.

    Helpful soaks options include:

    1. dilute white vinegar (roughly 1 part household vinegar to 4 parts water)

    2. Epsom salts

    3. very dilute Clorox bleach footbath (approximately 1/3 teaspoon Clorox in one medium bucket of water or one capful of Clorox in one bathtub full of water)

    Elevate the foot and leg.

Gently roll back the piece of overgrown skin after soaking the affected toenail.

Gently slip a thin wisp of cotton or dental floss (tape) under the nail edge to help lift the nail off the skin.

Trim toenails straight across (not too short), and avoid curving at the edges.

Mild ingrown toenails may be treated with conservative measures like warm daily soaks, avoidance of tight or ill-fitting shoes, elevating the foot, topical antibiotics like Neosporin, and gently pushing back the piece of overgrown skin away from the nail.

More advanced ingrown toenails may be treated with oral antibiotics. Resistant or recurrent cases of ingrown toenails may require minor in-office procedures by the physician. Surgical procedures aim to remove the embedded nail away from the toe tissue. In some cases, the side 1/3 strip of nail is surgically removed using local anesthesia (numbing). Surgical procedures often require prolonged healing, local soaks, and wound care to prevent further infections during the healing phase

Minor ingrown toenails may require simply trimming back the protruding nail sliver or piece away from the nail fold. More aggressive, debilitating cases may require a minor surgical procedure called partial nail matricectomy. Surgery should be considered as last resort after conservative local treatments have failed. Nail surgery may cause permanent nail deformity, poor cosmetic appearance, and other possible complications.

Matricectomy is the process of surgically, chemically, or electrically destroying all or part of the base nail portion called the nail matrix. Complete destruction of the nail matrix results in permanent loss of that portion of the nail. Once the nail matrix is fully removed or destroyed, a new nail plate cannot ever be regenerated. This surgical procedure is commonly curative for recurrent cases of ingrown toenails. Often, only the lateral (side) 1/3 or 1/4 of the affected nail is removed in matricectomy. Much less commonly, both sides of the nail matrix are removed (bilateral matricectomy) or the entire nail matrix is removed (complete matricectomy).

Surgical treatment is usually reserved for severe or recurrent cases of ingrown toenails. Surgery is not commonly required in most instances. If you keep getting an ingrown toenail, then a minor surgical procedure may be helpful to prevent recurrences.

How can I prevent ingrown toenails from recurring?

Recurrent ingrown toenails may be preventable by wearing wider-toe shoes and avoiding trauma and repeated injury to toenails. Further measures include protecting toes during sports and avoiding curving or overcutting toenails too short at the edges

How do you get rid of an ingrown finger nail?
you have to go to a podiatrist (foot doctor) and he will partially numb you and use a knife to cut the skin away from the nail and pull the nail out.

    answer mine plz!

See your doctor, do not seriously cut it, as you will ake it worse, ingrown nails must be dealt with by proffessionals.

    Trust me!

take a nail clipper and then pull back the skin. Then slowly clip out the fingernail that's ingrown into your skin. It works for me!
    yes
    cut it!!!

its genetics, it has no meaning

I've had acrylic nails for 5 1/2 weeks, now the one on my little finger is coming away, but I can't get it off

I've tried loosening it with a sewing needle, but nothing is working for me and it's really hurting when I get it caught on something. I need some type of solvent but can't think of anything. This stuff is better than super glue!I've had acrylic nails for 5 1/2 weeks, now the one on my little finger is coming away, but I can't get it off
as a licensed nail tech im telling you not to ';loosen'; it with anything. by prying an acrylic nail off, youre going to damage your nail. Now many people will probably try to tell you that just having acrylics are bad for your nails..but its not true.

If you want to take the nail off yourself, go to Sally Beauty Supply, buy a small bottle of pure acetone, and soak just that nail in the acetone. make sure not to spill it on anything or get it on any other nails because it will make the acrylic start to break down and weaken.

You definately need to remove the acrylic if it is lifting because any dirt and dust and water that gets in between the acrylic and your natural nail can cause infection/fungus!!!

Just remember not to pick at it or pop it off...this can rip off your free edge ((the white tip of your natural nail)) and can cause infection.

Good luck hun!I've had acrylic nails for 5 1/2 weeks, now the one on my little finger is coming away, but I can't get it off
Do not try to pry it off. If your finger still hurts, then you may have torn some of your natural nail. If you did, or if the nailbed bled at all after catching it on whatever it was you caught it on, then soaking it in acetone would be a big mistake because it would hurt like crazy. In this case, I would suggest wrapping a bandaid around it to prevent the loose acrylic nail from doing any further damage - and to keep it firmly in place so that your nailbed can heal for a couple of days. Once it has had a chance to heal, I suggest going to a salon and having it repaired, or removed. But, don't let any techs force the nail off. This will cause even more damage to your natural nail, and it will hurt pretty badly too. The only way that acrylic should be removed is by soaking it in acetone.

As far as infection goes, you won't have to worry about it if you keep the area clean, and avoid getting water or other liquids under the nail for a few days until it has been either repaired, or removed.

    Good luck!
go to the nail salon theyll take it off.
soak it in 100% acetone nail polish remover. That should take it right off.
soak it in nailpolish remover, that should weaken the acrylic.

You will have to remove it using chemicals.

You could have avoided this problem if you cover your dining table using round table linens.I have a wood dining table- mahogany stained- finger nail polish remover got on the table leaving some damage?
Call in a furniture repair company. There's no way to tell without seeing it -- the extent of the damage, amount of finish removed and amount of color loss. Worst case scenario, it will need to be stripped and refinished.

yeah they'll still do it. i slammed my finger in the door and i had a splint thing on it, they just put acrylics on every other finger. it might look a little weird but they will do it
i'm sure they could but i highly recomend not to get acrylics because they may lead to a finger fungus

finger nail polish spilled on my new dvd and i haven't had a chance to watch it yet. can it be restored please help meIs a dvd ruined forever if finger nail polish remover is spilled on it?
If it spilled on the recorded side, then yes, it is ruined forever. Nail polish remover is basically acetone, and acetone dissolves most plastics.

If it spilled on the lable side, you might be ok unless the acetone went through to the other side and fogged the plastic on the recorded side.

How do i get her to stop biting her finger and toe nails?

Dip them in something that tastes really bad, like vinegar. How do i get her to stop biting her finger and toe nails?
Well, maybe shoes will help with the toes, but these habits can last forever. When my niece gets tired into the mouth goes her thumb. She is 27 years old. Good luck! How do i get her to stop biting her finger and toe nails?
I have been told there is a nail polish that taste really bad and it wont hurt them.
I babysat my boyfriend's 5-year-old niece, and she has some discipline problems (when she stays with her grandparents she gets away with murder). She LOVES to wear nailpolish, but also bites her nails and sucks her thumb. Her grandparents indulge this behavior, saying that she suffers from an oral fixation and can't help it. I say that's a load of crap, and she's going to have problems with her teeth if she keeps up the sucking.

Well, one day when I had her, she more or less threw a fit when I told her she couldn't suck her thumb. I explained that if she wanted to be a big girl and be pretty, she could wear nailpolish, but under no circumstances could she bite her nails or suck her thumb, because nailpolish isn't good for you. OR, if she insisted on sucking her thumb, we would take the nailpolish off.

She wanted to suck her thumb.

    We took the nailpolish off.

    Nailpolish remover tastes HORRIBLE.

She didn't suck her thumb the rest of the time I had her.
The product is called stop and grow. You can paint it on toe and finger nails - like nail polish and it tastes foul. I hope there is a similar product in your area. Re-apply it each day.

Your local pharmacist should be able to help you. Rewards for not biting may also help.

Help my finger nail breaks easily how to prevent that from happening?

is there any way to make it strongHelp my finger nail breaks easily how to prevent that from happening?
There are two ways to go about this: the expensive route and then the sensible (don't call it cheap)!

    1. Getting a manicure every week or week and a half, helps maintain your nails strength by the constant maintenance.

    2. Route 1 can get pricey, so the other option is to invest in a at home nail kit, equipped with:

orange sticks (to push back your cuticles)

nail file (always file in the same direction, don't see-saw back and forth)

cuticle trimmer (be careful not to trim to much or to often)

and nail clippers ( I never use these, just file down)

Be sure and keep a top coat of clear (at minimum or choose a color) on your nails at all time, doing touch-ups every other day or so, and removing it all and putting a fresh coat every week/week and a half. Get a strong top coat, similar to Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails or Diamond collection of polish, something that brags on the strength it can offer your nails.

Clear is easy and you can slop it on as you rush out the door, without the obvious flaws that color can leave.

yeah, some stores sell polish that makes ur nails stronger by applying.

    try looking at sally's .
At Sally's Beauty Supply, they sell a product called Rock Hard. You apply it a few times a day at first (it's clear) and it really toughens your nails so they can grow a bit. I think a bottle is about $7. Good stuff though.
Use nail hardener. And soak them in milk.
I use sally hansen too it works good.
rub vitamin E oil on them everyday. seriously, it helps.
you could go to a nail salon and get silk wraps
Get clear nail hardener, Sally Hansen make a good one, but you can pretty much get them from any brand. I put on a light pink french manicure style polish, then I put on 2 coats of the clear nail hardener polish. After that, I reapply the nail hardener every day or every other day and that keeps my nails strong, and the polish doesn't chip.

This worked for us: First take a NON acetone (acetone eats the carpet!!!) nail polish remover and apply it to q-tips or cotton balls. Scrub in a circular motion. Repeat with a new q-tip until gone. Then, take a white rag and bowl of warm water with a very small amount of dish detergent. Scrub the spot with the warm water. Rub with a dry cloth. The exact same thing happens to me with my bracelets and rings. It means you are allergic to the metal. I can only wear 100% gold. Try silver and gold to see which one works for you and then buy one that won't turn your finger green. :D
    just buy better qaulity jewellery
get real gold, not other garbage

it happens every friggin time! Should I stop using the scissors?I was cutting my nails and accidentally cut my finger?
Yes, stop using it.I was cutting my nails and accidentally cut my finger?
No, just cut them in a relaxed way, and in a clear light:-)
    yes, use nail clippers
Yes, you should. You could get a serious infection if keep going like this. Just, get some safety scissors or something, or a nail clipper to prevent further injury.
I was cutting my fingers, but accidentally cut my nails. We should do each other's nails!
Yeah. Get yourself a nail clipper. They are made for clipping nails. Did you not know that?
Try nail clippers. They are cheap (can een be $1.) You can get them at the dollar store. Good luck!
try nail clippers, or maybe you might need to get your eyes checked, seriously...
Definitely stop using the scissors. Invest in some nail clippers....you still get cut with those sometimes but not as bad as with scissors.
Try the garbage disposal. Stick your arm down there and it will do the rest.
Why are you using scissors to cut your nails!! Thats why nail clippers are for and it will help to stop cutting up your fingers.
Use nail clippers. They are easier to maneouver and you can see what is in the clip before applying pressure. It's very difficult to cut yourself with them.

They are typically under $5 at a pharmacy or drug store or even walmart.

Make sure you clean your cut out and bandage it. At night, take the bandage off to let air at the cut. Try not to get anything in it because you don't want an infection.
Just pay attention to what you are doing.

But nature will decide if the nail is gonna stay or go. Nothing you can do about that...just don;t pick at it and hopefully another nail will be growing as this ones leave. If not you have the ';gross'; factor and people will floct to you to see it. Cool points again!

we have them to protect the skin under them, thats why they should never be to short!! they are hard to protect as they are at the ends of the body (if that makes sense)... dont use them as tools though or the nails will break and damage the underlying structures

    [edit] Etymology discussion

Various Web references attribute the creation of the word to Mark Simpson in an article in The Independent in 1994.

The promotion of metrosexuality was left to the men's style press, magazines such as The Face, GQ, Esquire, Arena and FHM, the new media which took off in the Eighties and is still growing (GQ gains 10,000 new readers every month). They filled their magazines with images of narcissistic young men sporting fashionable clothes and accessories. And they persuaded other young men to study them with a mixture of envy and desire.

Some people said unkind things. American GQ, for example, was popularly dubbed 'Gay Quarterly'. Little wonder that all these magazines — with the possible exception of The Face — address their metrosexual readership as if none of them were homosexual or even bisexual. —Mark Simpson, ';Here come the mirror men'; The Independent, November 15, 1994 - Source - Wordspy article

Mark Simpson confirmed the attribution in this 2003 web article.

    [edit] Definition discussion

    Mark Simpson's own definition of 2002 is ';The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis -- because that's where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference. Particular professions, such as modelling, waiting tables, media, pop music and, nowadays, sport, seem to attract them but, truth be told, like male vanity products and herpes, they're pretty much everywhere.';

    But in his 2003 commentary on the 1994 creation, Mark says ';Truth is, I was not being entirely serious when I first wrote about metrosexuality back in 1994, shortly after the publication of my book about contemporary masculine identity, ‘Male Impersonators: Men Performing Masculinity’. That’s to say, when I wrote about how male metrosexuality was coming out of the closet and taking over the world, I was being slightly satirical about the effect of consumerism and media proliferation, particularly glossy men’s magazines, on traditional masculinity. But then, this wouldn’t be the first time a satire on consumerism was appropriated by consumerism to hasten the process it sought to critique.';

No, it justs make you Lucky to have a wife like that!
It's more common than you might think. And no, a real metro would know it's spelled 'manicure' and would be asking about clear nail polish vs. buffing.
LOL.. not at all. It means she loves you and she wants you to look nice...

Also probably a good sign that your feet don't stink as much as most men =P
no, it makes you whipped! If you went to a salon to have them done and you wanted to have them done you would be metrosexual.
    Metrosexual no. Metrosensual maybe.

Hmmmm. Manicure... man-i-cure? If it's something you both benefit from, then this only makes your world a better, cleaner place. Besides, didn't your mother always tell you that a person's hands, especially their nails, are an indication of the person?

I once had a friend whose boyfriend trimmed her toenails. With the money they saved on pedicures, they bought a better house. Neither of them were ';Metrosexual';.

... But, what colour polish though; does it match your outfits or your eye colour?
not at all! i like to do the same thing for my fiance i just like him to look clean n fresh to death in every way. i can stand to c a man with nasty feet n nails so just enjoy it!
no, it makes you clean and well groomed
Yes, it does make you ';Metrosexual'; in the true sense in which that term was conjured. But you should be proud! That term ';Metrosexual'; is a term made up by a bunch of fat, ugly, lazy, bad hair wearing, nasty grill sportin', wife beater wearin', guys who drink beer while balancing their pizza on their beer bellies, belching and farting all the while! So GO ON WIT YUR BAD SELF!!!! Let's all thank the Lord for Metrosexuals! My man is one, too!
