2 month baby old finger cut while clipping nails?

i tried cutting my 2 months nail and ended cutting his finger:( it didnt hurt him much as he didnt cry but i felt very rotten. its healing but the area looks a little red as compared to the other fingers. he does not cry if i press it. how long does it take to heal, if anyone had this same problem as me. just want to be sure its nothing and takes a while to heal. its not bleeding anymore. also i applied rubbing alcohol should i continue???2 month baby old finger cut while clipping nails?
Don't feel bad. It happens. Don't let it shake your confidence as a mother and move on.

I'm a grandmother now, but I remember doing the same thing to my 6 week old daughter. I remember feeling terrible and crying, but it's important to forgive yourself. Accidents happen and I am sure it's the first of many mistakes. Parents are not perfect only our intentions are.2 month baby old finger cut while clipping nails?
I wouldn't use any more rubbing alcohol, as that is very harsh. Lots of moms do the same thing. Next time you cut your baby's nails, try doing while he is asleep. That way he won't be moving around, so you can take your time. Some people just bite their baby's nails instead, as the nails are very soft. No risk of cutting then.

I'm sure he will be just fine, and you probably feel way worse than he ever did! Babies are actually alot tougher than people give them credit for. Don't worry about it unless his finger gets infected. If it is still red in a couple of days, or loooks swollen, or he gets a fever, those would be signs of infection.

Try picking up some Polysporin antibiotic cream for any future ';owies.'; It doesn't sting, and is better than rubbing alcohol.
poor thing. i did that to my youngest. felt awful.

if it stopped bleeding it will be fine. dont do the alchol anymore it stings a bunch.

it will heal over just fine. many moms have done it. the nail and skin will grow over and everything will be fine. watch for any infection and maybe bring it to your docs attention on your next visit.

please dont waste your time and money taking him to a hospital for it.

before you go to the hospital you always have to think....what can they do? stitches. no way. a shot. no. stay home and relax and your baby will be fine.
Um. You don't clip an infants finger nails. You file them. You can buy baby sized nail files from Toys R Us, Target and Babies R Us. They are inexpensive and with the file you wouldn't run into these type of issues.

Don't use rubbing alcohol on the cut. That will only cause the cut to dry out and could be too rough for an infants skin. Antibacterial soap and warm water will do fine.
i wouldn't use the alcohol that probably stings a little sounds like hes fine. with my little ones I just use my teeth I know it sounds weird if not gross but works great you can totally feel where you need to cut and you never worry about their lttle fingers, unless you're a cannabal :)))))
Please dont apply any more alcohol to it..just leave it to dry out and heal...

did u use baby clippers and not a regular pair?as am wondering how you cut him though babies can be quite wriggly...

i notice also that i always feel worse than my son when something happens to him as well!

cutting my 5 month old son's nails is like a test as he squirms all over the place too!

take better care next time and good luck
It will be fine. Every mother does this at some point in time. Don't use alcohol anymore though, it burns. Just wash it off and put an antibiotic ointment on and a bandaid if it is bleeding. It will take a while to heal. The red is because it is new skin growing.
It happens. My husband did that with our daughter and you couldn't even tell a day later. Trust me...as they get older, it gets hairier! Wait until the baby is mobile! But seriously, as long as the wound is not seeping or constantly bleeding, you're fine. And don't poke it! Have fun, it just gets better.
This happened to me when my baby was first born, it takes usually around a week, don't put rubbing alcohol on it (that burns!) It will scab up and in about a week or two the scab will fall off. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.
i did it to and fealt soooooooooo bad i cryed not my son he was fine didnt bat an eyelid it wouldnt stop bleading .think i cryed but not him did tack a bit to heal so please dont worry baby will be fine thay tough little things .ps i would just leave it to heal now
My 2 month old cut his finger while I was changing him in a changing station and that was like 3 days ago and well its healing up just fine.Keep a band-aid on it and keep it clean. Some brand of band-aids have baby band-aids and they work great.
did you cry??? i did the same thing and i bawled like a baby. just let it heal on it's own and make sure to keep it clean and it should be healed in a week or so. i wouldn't use the alcohol anymore...just let it heal itself.
Wow...alchol seems rough..I wouldnt use that

I think the red is healing...but just incase, I would let the doc look at it. Infact you can probably just walk in and ask them to peek at it real quick without an appiontment...
it should be ok but if it stays red for up to 24 hours and swells then take him to the DR or ER.
It will heal quickly. I really recommend switching to nail filing instead of trimming, though. It's impossible to hurt your baby with an emery board.
As long as he's not still bleeding then he's fine it should heal up in a few days a week at most
yeah I WOULD IF IT DIDENT HERT HER THAT MUCH U KNOW!
Hi

Sorry this has happened. Glad baby is ok. If bleeding has stopped, should be ok. Will heal soon, i would say a few more days, skin will repair itself.

:)
